A Personal Update on RxUtility’s First Year and What’s Ahead for 2025

As 2024 winds down, I wanted to take a moment to share what we’ve been up to at RxUtility and reflect on what we’ve accomplished in our first year. It’s been a typical start-up whirlwind — a mix of hard work, lessons learned, and key accomplishments. Thanks up front to those who have supported me through these early days.

When I started RxUtility early this year, I knew our mission was both simple and ambitious: to make prescription drugs more affordable for people. Healthcare affordability is a crisis in this country — one major healthcare event can upend a family’s financial future. That is not acceptable, and I’m determined to be part of the solution by lowering the prescription out-of-pocket spend for healthcare consumers.

What We Accomplished This Year

  • Finishing the Product: By spring, we had completed the V1 product and brought it to market.
  • Getting Paid: By early summer we had signed two paying customers and successfully deployed the product in the real world. Receiving that first check made out to RxUtility was an entrepreneurial thrill!
  • Telling the Story: In the fall, we published our first Benchmark Report, creating awareness about the huge savings that copay coupons provide in the fight for healthcare affordability. You can download a free copy here.
  • Building the Team: I was fortunate to bring together a team of incredibly talented collaborators. Having the right people in place is essential. Nothing works without a team.
  • Creating Momentum: We’ve built a strong pipeline, positioning us for rapid growth in 2025 and beyond.

These milestones are just the beginning. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, but I’m even more energized about what’s ahead.

Why RxUtility Matters

At RxUtility, we’re laser-focused on price transparency for prescription drugs. Why? Because understanding how much you’ll pay for a medication — whether it’s the cash price, the price you owe using insurance copay, or the copay coupon price — is still incredibly difficult. For many patients, the difference between $30 and $3,000 out-of-pocket cost comes down to the lack of accessible information.

Copay Coupons

Copay coupons are an affordability tool. These are a vastly underutilized resource — billions of dollars in savings are available every year, yet most providers and patients don’t even know they exist. At RxUtility, we’re solving this distribution problem by increasing awareness and integrating these tools seamlessly into the healthcare ecosystem.

Our Have-A-Heart Pledge

From day one, I knew I wanted RxUtility to be more than just a business. That’s why we committed to the Have-A-Heart Pledge: to donate 10% of our profits toward helping people afford the medications they need. While RxUtility is a for-profit technology company, our mission is personal, and this pledge puts our money where our collective mouth is.

An AI-First Company

One of the things I’m having the most fun with is how we’ve embraced AI. RxUtility is built from the ground up as an AI-first company — not just in our product, but across every part of our operations. From research and product development to legal agreements to QA and financial analysis, AI has been transformative. Seriously, you should hit me up about how to be as artificially intelligent as I am.

That said, we take AI seriously. Everything AI generates — whether it’s content, code, or contracts — goes through human review. This balance between leveraging AI and maintaining oversight has been a key to our success.

Looking Ahead to 2025

Next year, my focus as CEO is on storytelling. I want to be on every podcast, platform, and podium where I can share the RxUtility story. The affordability crisis in healthcare is too big to ignore, and I believe our solution can make a tangible impact.

The team will double down on our mission to make copay coupons ubiquitous across the healthcare IT ecosystem. That means signing up EVERY health tech company (or tech-enabled services company) across the ecosystem. Whether those companies sell to providers, patients, pharmacies, self-insured employers, or health plans, we firmly believe that their solutions will be better if they include this completely new content - the RxUtility Copay Coupon Catalog - into their workflows.

By ensuring these tools are always accessible, always current, and always in digital flow, we can directly lower out-of-pocket costs for patients. That’s the greatest contribution RxUtility can make.

Again, Thank You

To those of you who have been cheering us on, offering advice, or simply believing in our vision — thank you! I’m so grateful for your support and excited to keep building this company with your help. If you think of a way that we can work together, please let me know. Nothing is better than working with friends.

Here’s to making healthcare more affordable, one step coupon at a time.

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season and a bright start to 2025.
